Even if you are planning to spend the next few months dressed simply in jeans and a tee, nails can be a terrific low-key way to pay homage to the latest trends.
As Winter moves into Spring, gone are the gothic and rich red shades of the past few months and a lighter palette of colours and softer, more feminine accents are poised to take centre stage.
1. French fancy
The traditional French manicure has had an update for 2020. The expected white tips have been replaced. At Zimmerman, this was with a rainbow of colours, whilst at other shows red-toned tips were all the rage.
2. Too Cute
As well as highlighting the tips of your nails, Fashion Week saw the emergence of a new focal point – the cuticle. At Oscar de la Renta, as well as colour-burst tips, there was colour at the cuticle line too. Since the runway shows, this trend has been all over Instagram. Another version is to have gold accents around the edge of your nails, offering a subtle yet glamorous way to add glimmer.
3. All about accessories
Some of the most eye-catching nails seen backstage at the shows included subtle embellishments, like the pearl-encrusted nails at Simone Rocha and the marbled nails at Roland Mouret.
4. Groundbreaking Spring florals
Florals for Spring might not be news when it comes to fashion but scroll through any insta feed and you will soon become inspired to wear delicate florals on your nails
5. Nail geometry
For an uber-modern update to nail art, create geometric shapes on your nails by painting only one half a bright, bold colour. Traditional red reigns supreme and looks great against a nude backdrop.
